Sunday while watching my Downtown Abbey DVD the laptop died. It is now with the Apple Geniuses having the "mother board" replaced. I was assured that it had nothing to do with my choice of DVD's just a problem with the mass manufacturing process. But due to the volume of repairs that the Apple store is dealing with it will be 12 days before our notebook is back to normal. So in the meantime we can't Skype on it but we can Skype and Face Time on the iPad. Please do not cross us off your list of things to do--just use other available resources.
Monday we did our usual wandering after going to the Apple store in Covent Garden and went to West Minister Palace--known as the Parliament Building. We watched a session where they were dealing with excess executive pay and benefits. It was interesting but my conclusion is that politicians are politicians--where ever they are. We get a summary of US news--luckily we don't have to endure all of the TV ads and redundant reports that accompany political campaigns--we just get the highlights and how it affects the UK.
We are doing fine--we just stay on our gypsy schedule and go from a.m. to p.m. Dad is now teachng Institute on Wednesdays and will sub for three weeks on Tuesdays (this is after we do our Employment thing--he loves being busy--everyone had best be stockpiling projects for him for when we get home. Here in our little flat before I get up--please note Mitch, that that is at 6:30 am--he has cleaned the bathroom, put in a load of laundry and studied for an hour). Me, I just completed knitting a wrap, a vest and am half way done with a little pink sleeveless jacket. If anyone wants a knitted item I am building an inventory--Dad just laughs--except when he sees the bills for yarn. We are getting more and more requests to go to outlaying areas and help with Employment needs--Saturday we were in Harlow and did a 2 hour presentation on how to look for jobs, apply for jobs and how important it is to work hard at finding a job. Sunday Dad travelled to North London Ward and worked for two hours with a Sister who wanted to up-date her CV. Everyone wants a job but they don't realize how much work it takes to find one.
The weather is pleasant--just a little rain but not really cold just nice with a warm coat and scarf and gloves and sweater and umbrella. Coming back and dressing for the hot weather in Texas will make us feel like we are going naked.
Well, I had best go. We are at the Archives--we open the Centre on Tuesdays--can you believe, we have to man and open all of the 25 computers, printer and scanner plus answer Family History questions and run down three
flights of stairs and get the requested films. Of course Dad takes the stairs - I take the elevator.
We love all of you and think of you always.
love, m
